About the service
A clearer view of flood risk
Flood Risk Map makes official flood-risk coverage easier to explore, while keeping the source, scope and limitations visible.
What the map does
The map brings together Environment Agency coverage for flooding from rivers and the sea and for surface-water flooding in England. Search for a place or postcode, then pan, zoom and compare the two sources of flooding.
It is intended as an approachable starting point for understanding the wider pattern around a location. The map does not predict whether a particular building will flood.
Current coverage
The current release covers England. It does not yet provide equivalent mapping for Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. Wider views summarise coverage; detailed polygons appear as you zoom in.
Read the data and methodology page for dataset dates, licensing and a fuller explanation of what is shown.
What the map does not do
- It does not provide live flood warnings or emergency guidance.
- It does not include every possible source or cause of flooding.
- It does not account for the precise construction or level of a property.
- It cannot guarantee that an area will or will not flood.
If flooding may be happening now, use the official flood-warning and emergency services for your area.
